Cunningham gets over 8 years

Former Congressman Randall “Duke” Cunningham, a Republican, was sentenced in United States District Court in San Diego by Judge Larry A. Burns to serve over 8 years in custody, followed by 3 years’ supervised release based on his convictions for conspiring to commit bribery, fraud and tax evasion.

Cunningham also has to pay over $1.8 million in back taxes, over $1.8 million in restitution and fork over the Rancho Santa Fe home, over $1.8 million in cash and more than a dozen pieces of antiques, furniture and Persian rugs.

RAW STORY reports Cunningham used to hawk momentos on a defunct website called Top Gun Enterprises and was the inspiration for the hit movie "Top Gun."

ABC reports a top CIA official is being investigated as well.
